The Wolves Are Coming!

What makes a man take an old bus, retrofit it for wild wolves, and crisscross the nation with a message?

That’s what Kent Weber, founder of Mission:Wolf, has been doing for years, and he returns to the High Desert Museum in Bend April 18 and 19.

The traveling program from Colorado allows people to meet live wolves face-to-face and even touch them. Some wolves even lick the faces of audience members.

“Some folks’ lower jaws drop to the floor when they learn that a live wolf is about to visit their school or business,” says Weber. “The first response is shock: ‘What?’ The second response is, ‘Do they bite?’ and the third response is, ‘Can I touch it?’
Weber lets people get to know these legendary, charismatic predators, and learn about their crucial role in a diverse, balanced ecosystem.

The reintroduction of wolves in the West continues to stir controversy. The Museum presents programs such as Mission:Wolf so that people can gain knowledge to make informed, balanced decisions about the future of our region.
